W Hotels pitch $3,000 'Social Media Wedding Concierge' service

How important is social media becoming in this day and age? W Hotels has announced a "Social Media Wedding Concierge,” which costs $3,000 and available at four New York locations.

As part of the deal, which was pitched to The Huffington Post among other media outlets, the service will create your very own hashtag and live tweet all of the most important updates on your big day. In addition, the service will provide the bride and groom with frequent posts of video and photos on Instagram.

Today.com reports after the big day, the concierge will compile the "social media highlights,” and create Shutterfly book of these moments.

W Hotels has responded to the backlash from this, calling it an innovative idea.

Their ' global social media strategist, Alyssa Kiefer, said in an email, “To some, this may seem a bit over the top and we’re okay with that. We’re sure couples balked at the idea of traditional wedding planners years ago and now you wouldn’t think of planning a wedding without one.”

She also said, “Perhaps a relative can’t make it from another country or you just want a modern day ‘scrapbook’ of sorts.”
