1. Carol Burnett
Carol Burnett was born on April 26, 1933 in San Antonio, Texas. In the care of her grandmother, the two of them moved to Hollywood where she attended Hollywood High School.
As a student at the University of California, she switched her major from journalism to theatre.
The first time she got her big break on TV was on The Paul Witchell Show in 1955, at the age of 21, and as Buddy Hackett’s girlfriend on the sitcom Stanley (1956), at the age of 22.
Her rocket to stardom on the stage was Princess Winifred the Woebegone in Once Upon A Mattress (1959). In the TV movie Once Upon A Mattress (1972) she reprised her role as the unlikely princess. She visited the show a third time, this time playing Queen Aggravain in the TV movie Once Upon A Mattress (2005).
In 1959, Burnett became a regular player on The Garry Moore Show, a job that lasted until 1962.
Her variety show, The Carol Burnett Show (1967) earned 22 daytime nominations during the 11 year run of the show.
On film, she was Miss Hannigan in the beloved Annie (1982) and in Noises Off (1992) as Dotty Otley/Mrs. Clackett.
Burnett also appeared on the popular TV comedy show Mad About You (1996-1999).
In the animated film, Horton Hears a Who (2008) her voice is the Kangaroo.
