10. Sissy Spacek
Mary Elizabeth Spacek was born in 1949 in Quitman, Texas to her parents Virginia Frances (Spilman) and Edwin Arnold Spacek.
After high school where she was voted homecoming queen, she went on to study at the Lee Strasberg Institute in New York City.
Spacek made her way onto the silver screen with Badlands (1973) and got an Oscar nomination for her role as Carrie in the horror film Carrie (1976).
She won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of Loretta Lynn in the 1980 film Coal Miner's Daughter, and also earned a Grammy nomination for the song "Coal Miner's Daughter" from the film's soundtrack.
Spacek’s directorial debut Sweet Tea is currently in development.
