'Pyramid' - Another 10 great wins

The $100,000 Pyramid

An Unconventional Path to Victory!

Typically the sixth category is the hardest for the receiver to answer correctly in the Winner's Circle, and if it's not the final category needed to complete the climb, it's usually the second to last. However, this Winner's Circle playing from The $25,000 Pyramid featured a contestant who decided to win her money in a less than typical and rare fashion, correctly guessing the sixth category before both the fourth and fifth categories.

After breezing through the bottom three categories, celebrity partner Charles Siebert could not get her to identify the fourth category, "Things In An Orchard." The same result happened in the fifth category, "Things With a Needle." Usually, when two categories are passed, that is doomsday for the contestant because it not only means time was wasted in trying to get the answer the first time, but it also interrupts the flow between the two players. However, what saved the contestant in this situation was Siebert's instinct to pass quickly.

Siebert realized his partner was not initially getting the word "orchard" from his clues and he could not think of anything at first for "Things With a Needle." Many times when the clue giver gets stuck, they'll waste so many precious seconds trying to think of the perfect clue, even though the guesser is completely lost. Siebert was smart and realized that passing both categories and coming back would be the best move at the moment. Luckily, the contestant easily got the sixth category, "Things Made of Chrome," rather quickly so there was plenty of time to backtrack and eventually win the $10,000.
