Not This Time Mr. Buzzer!
Speaking of down to the wire moments, here's one from the original version of The $100,000 Pyramid. She made the top 10 greatest Pyramid wins list by almost breaking, or at least tying, Billy Crystal's record, and here she is once again featured on a list highlighting great Winner's Circle wins. It's the one and only Carol Brady, the late, great Florence Henderson.
"Something You Crack" has been used time and time again as a Winner's Circle category, and based on others, that isn't the hardest top category the Pyramid has ever displayed. So with 22 seconds left, it seems like a sure bet the contestant is going to get it. Maybe in 10 seconds top the theme music will start playing and the $10,000 graphic will start flashing. All Florence needed to say was "an egg" and it should've been a dead giveaway.
However, that wasn't the case as the contestant took all but one second to finally blurt out the correct answer. This is one of those moments as a viewer that the phrase "oh, come on" is probably coming out of your mouth because the category is so simple but the guesser is all over the place with answers. Thankfully, it ended in a classic buzzer beater win and not with a moment that makes you want to pull your hair out.
