If you liked 'The Kissing Booth,' you'll love these retro rom-coms

Notting Hill (1999)

"I'm just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her."

Julia Roberts has been in plenty of romantic comedies but put her with Hugh Grant and magic happens. She plays Anna, a movie star who bumps into bookshop owner William (Grant) who proceeds to dump orange juice on her. This, that and the other happens, photos hit the tabloids, she freaks out and runs away. So why is this movie by Roberts better than any she did with Richard Gere? Grant takes Roberts position in this movie as the underdog and does it quite naturally. Then, of course, there's the fact it's set in Britain and the accents are quite splendid.
