George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones prequel now has a working title, a production start date, and a location.
The prequel series’ title, for now, is The Long Night and will reportedly return to Belfast for filming, according to local paper The Belfast Telegraph. Filming will begin in October of this year at the Paint Hall studios.
This prequel series (or “successor show,” as George R.R. Martin called it) is supposedly set thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones. Martin has worked closely with Jane Goldman to build the story of the successor show. Goldman was co-writer of both Kingsman movies, X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Martin was working with a total of five writers at one point, but with Goldman’s excellent talent for adapting stories on top of a novelist background, she seems a very good pick to helm this story.
Filming for The Long Night begins later this year in October.
