Train - 10 songs you need to listen to right now

4. "Play That Song"

It says something about Train that, ten albums in, the band can still deliver a crowd pleaser and a radio hit. "Play That Song" is the first single off of Train's most recent album A Girl, a Bottle, a Boat and has already become a fan favorite. The only reason this song placed at number four is because three other songs have had more time to develop in popularity and have become legendary Train songs. However, you never know, over time, maybe "Play That Song" will move up a notch.

This is a very interesting song because the melody is based on another song that dates back eight decades. In 1938, a song by the name of "Heart and Soul" was released. It was composed by Hoagy Carmichael and was performed by Bea Wain alongside Larry Clinton's orchestra. In fact, Hoagy Carmichael, along with "Heart and Soul" lyricist Frank Loesser, are credited as writers on "Play That Song."

Who could ever imagine that an 80-year-old song would be relevant again in 2016 when one of the most popular bands creates a brand new song using the existing melody? It show's how genius Pat Monahan and company are when writing songs and selecting which ones they want to release.

Listening to "Play That Song" makes you want to play the song over and over again. It has the ability to get you out of your seat and sway, or possibly dance like Monahan does in the video. It's one of those easy-breezy songs that will always put a smile on your face, especially if you channel your inner Tom Hanks and play it on the Big piano.
