3. The Evil Dead
Given that The Evil Dead takes place in a deserted cabin, you maybe wouldn’t expect the film to be filmed in Detroit — but the film, and franchise as whole, is actually quite Michigan based. All the characters in the film are Michigan State University Students, Bruce Campbell himself and director Sam Raimi are both Royal Oak, Michigan natives and — while a good portion of the film was shot in Tennessee — some of the gory indoor scenes were shot right in Royal Oak.
