Perhaps no film on the list represents the segregation in big cities better than Gran Torino does. After his wife passes away, Korean War veteran Walt Kowalski (Clint Eastwood) wants to die alone in his house in peace. But when his neighbor Thao unwillingly gets caught up in gang activity, Walt finds himself having to intervene. It’s a heart-wrenching tale, and one of our favorite performances from Eastwood to date.
