National Cancer Survivors Day: 7 celebrity cancer survivors

Michael Douglas

In August 2010 Michael Douglas announced he had throat cancer, but he later said that the real diagnosis was tongue cancer in October 2013, which he went through chemotherapy and radiation therapy for.

Douglas out of necessity had to since his career could've been negatively impacted if industry leaders in Hollywood found out and decided to not hire him due to his physical appearance being drastically changed. Surgical procedures could've been needed which would include partial removal of the jaw and tongue, according to News Day.

Fortunately, Douglas beat cancer and did not need surgery! Currently, in 2018, he has been working on the comedy TV series The Kominsky Method as Sandy Kominsky in which he plays an over the hill acting coach.
