Commemorate D-Day with these World War II movies

3. Terrence Malick’s The Thin Red Line, 1998

Believe it or not, Saving Private Ryan was not the only great war movie to come out in 1998. The Thin Red Line was Terrence Malick’s first film since 1978’s Days of Heaven and is completely different from Spielberg’s film. Malick’s film is set during the Battle of Guadalcanal in the Pacific and is a psychological exploration of the effects of war. It is really the only war movie that can be called truly beautiful.
