Netflix's 'Lost in Space' (already) teases a second season

Lost in Space

Finished with Lost in Space yet? Me neither.

The Lost in Space reboot was released to Netflix last Friday, April 13th, and I’m only on episode six (so far so good though, I’m really enjoying it!) However, even though I and I’m guessing most of you haven’t watched all ten episodes yet, that hasn’t stopped the show-runners from teasing the possibilities of a second season.

While the second season has yet to be green-lit, co-creator Matt Sazama gave some comments to Indiewire about what fans should expect.

“We are working on scripts and hoping that if we get a green light we’re ready to go. We’ve had a lot of thoughts about it, and hopefully, if everyone watches it, we’ll get to see more adventures of the Robinsons, because we have some crazy stuff planned out that we really hope we get to film.”

He went on: “We definitely have figured out some really fun stuff that I think, if we were so fortunate for the show to go more than one season, I think people would really enjoy and be interested in the science fiction world that we want to build."

Lost in Space star Molly Parker also offered some comments, re-telling about how the child stars of the show also wanted to pitch some ideas for a second season.

“The boys were actually telling [creator Burk Sharpless] what they thought the second season should be, and it was all complicated monsters and complicated situations,” she said. “So, we’ll see. I’ll be very interested if any of those ideas end up in the second season.”

That doesn’t mean that the actors themselves have any clue what’s in store for their characters next. Toby Stephens, who plays John Robinson in the show, said: “I know they are working on ideas and stuff. But nothing concrete. When we were filming the season, obviously we all were kind of shooting ideas around about what could happen next. But the great thing about this is you’re lost in space. Anything could happen. I mean, literally, anything could happen.”

Again, I’m only on episode six of the show, but at this point, I’ll be surprised if a second season doesn’t get green-lit within the coming week.
