13. Lilian Gish
Lilian Gish was a native of Springfield, Ohio, born on October 14, 1893.
Gish started with local productions but eventually impressed director D.W. Griffith which landed her in the moving pictures. In 1912 she starred in An Unseen Enemy, The One She Loved and My Baby.
She also starred in The Birth of a Nation in 1915.
Although she played several other roles consistently in the 1920s, '30s and '40s. She was in The Scarlett Letter in 1926, His Double Life in 1933 and Commandos Strike at Dawn in 1942, Duel in the Sun in 1946 and she was in the well-known thriller The Night of the Hunter in 1955.
She is one of the original's of motion picture acting, even appearing in the huge hit The Whales of August in 1987.
She had a total of 75 years in acting when she died in 1993.
