9. Halle Berry
Model turned blockbuster actress, Halle Berry was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on August 14, 1966.
Berry got her start on the TV series Living Dolls (1989) and made her break into the big leagues with Jungle Fever in 1991 as a beleaguered crack addict.
She received even more acclaim in 1998 for Bulworth and the cable broadcast Introducing Dorothy Dandridge in 1999.
In 2000 (and since then) She played Storm in X-Men, X-men 2 and X-men: The Last Stand. 2001 showed more of her edginess with Swordfish and Monster's Ball.
Berry became the first black woman to win an Acadamy Award for Best Actress in 2002 for her role in Monster's Ball. (She is still the only woman of color to win that award.)
But she didn't stop there.
She was Janie Stark, the main character of the novel turned TV movie Their Eyes Were Watching God in 2005, Catwoman in 2004, and played in the psychological thriller Gothika in 2003.
Her more recent notable works are X-Men: Day's of Future Past (2014), Extant the TV series (2014- 2015), and Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017).
She has become an iconic regular on the screen, and there are no signs she's stopping anytime soon.
