Alice Louise Waters
Alice Louise Waters is a pioneer of California Cuisine. Her restaurant, Chez Panisse in Berkeley is known for fresh, locally grown and organic ingredients and has been thriving since 1971.
As a chef, she has authored several cookbooks. She is passionate about reforming school lunches and granting universal access to nutritious food.
Waters was the first woman to be named Best Chef in America by the James Beard Foundation in 1992.
