In honor of Women's History Month, we've compiled a list of ten known and not so known female activists who have fought for civil rights, women rights and have really gone against the grain in a male-dominated society shaping history in the process.

Since this is women's history month, time should be taken to recognize these courageous women for their efforts and what they have accomplished, all with the message of equality (although certainly they should be reflected upon at any given time). These pioneers ultimately symbolize not just exceptionalism in women, but in humanity.
