4. Ninja Scroll
Another classic hit film from the early '90s, Ninja Scroll was in Japan in 1993 and in the U.S. 1995. The film is set in Edo period Japan under the Tokugawa shogunate and follows lone rebel samurai Jubei Kibagami and loyal to her lord food taster and kick butt ninja Kagero. They set out to stop The Shogun of the Dark who plans to wrestle control from the controlling shogunate while going head to head with the eight devils of Kimon. Guts, gore, that edgy visual and classic characters beating each other to a pulp gives this film a vigorous intensity.
