Director Kevin Smith tweeted out a selfie late Sunday night that he had survived a massive heart attack.

The tweet reads "After the first show this evening, I had a massive heart attack. The Doctor who saved my life told me I had 100% blockage of my LAD artery (aka "the Widow-Maker"). If I hadn't canceled show 2 to go to the hospital, I would've died tonight. But for now, I'm still above ground!"

The selfie shows him with his eyes wide open, hooked up to his hospital bed. On Sunday night, Smith had a two-part comedy special booked at Alex Theatre in Glendale. He had to cancel the second part or else he would not have made it.

The LAD, the left anterior descending artery is an important vessel to supplying blood to the heart and a blockage there could be fatal.

Kevin Smith is famous for directing comedies such as Clerks and Zack and Miri Make a Porno. Currently he appears on Comic Book Men on AMC, a series set in the comic shop that he owns, Jay and Bob's Silent Shop. He also appeared in the hit 2017 movie The Disaster Artist as himself.

Smith is 47.

Celebrities and fans have poured their prayers and support for the director.

We hope Kevin recovers quickly!
