Martin Luther King Jr. went to Booker T. Washington High School, where he skipped both the ninth and eleventh grades, and went to Morehouse College in Atlanta at age 15, in 1944, He graduated from Morehouse in 1948.
King went to Crozer Theological Seminary in Chester, Pennsylvania, for three years. He was introduced to Mohandas Gandhi’s philosophy of nonviolence and with contemporary Protestant theologians and earned a bachelor of divinity degree in 1951. He was elected to Crozer’s student body, almost exclusively of white. He received a letter of recommendation saying, “The fact that with our student body largely Southern in constitution a colored man should be elected to and be popular [in] such a position is in itself no mean recommendation.”
MLK then went to Boston University, studied man’s connection to God and received a doctorate (1955) at age 25, with the dissertation, “A Comparison of the Conceptions of God in the Thinking of Paul Tillich and Henry Nelson Wieman," according to Britannica.com.
