Kathryn Bigelow
Kathryn Bigelow is the obvious pick you probably expected to appear on this list. She’s the only woman to ever win Best Director at the Academy Awards (which she won for The Hurt Locker in 2009) to date. She’s also been working for a long, long time — her earlier projects dating back to1981 and having made such recognizable titles as Blue Steel, Point Break, Zero Dark Thirty and most recently Detroit.
