Netflix's 'Black Mirror' Season 4 episodes ranked

6. “Arkangel” (Episode 2)

One of the most impressive things about Black Mirror is how different each episode feels. One way the show is able to maintain this singularity is by hiring a wide variety of different directors and putting no constraints on them. That’s where Jodie Foster comes in — a major Hollywood actress best known for The Silence of the Lambs who decided to tell her own Black Mirror story. Arkangel is about the troubling repercussions of parental guidance and censorship and what happens when a mother (Rosemarie DeWitt) can become a little too involved in her daughter’s (Brenna Harding) personal life. It’s a well-directed episode with some really interesting social commentary woven throughout.
