2. Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) (2014)
It was a close race, but Birdman just comes in as second for Emma Stone’s best role. Even when acting against a powerhouse like Michael Keaton, Stone completely steals every scene that she’s in. The moment when she’s drawing on a piece of toilet paper with a sharpie and goes off on a rant against Keaton’s character? Freakin’ incredible.
