6. Andy Serkis, War for the Planet of the Apes
It’s time for the Academy to acknowledge motion-capture performances. We know that Academy voters aren’t always ahead with the times and all that, but Serkis has given three incredible performances as Caesar three times now. War for the Planet of the Apes might just be the best that Serkis has even been while doing mo-cap, meaning there’s no better time than the present for the Academy to finally recognize it.
