1. Daniel-Day Lewis, Phantom Thread
Whenever Daniel-Day Lewis appears in anything — even if it was just a car commercial — you can be pretty sure he’s going to be nominated. But the fact that he’s re-teaming with Paul Thomas Anderson in Phantom Thread and that this is said to be DDL’s final performance EVER almost guarantees it. We hope the news about him retiring isn’t true because we’re not quite ready to hand over this national treasure of an actor; but, if it is, Phantom Thread is the perfect film for him to go out on.
