2. Her musical inspirations may surprise you!
Dua Lipa would listen to Nelly Furtado, P!nk and Destiny's Child growing up, and as she got older found a love for hip-hop as well. The first albums she purchased was "Whoa Nelly!" by Nelly Furtado. Today she mainly listens to rap because she loves the realness behind it. When discussing her music, Lipa describes it as dark pop, using that rawness of Hip Hop found in her first concerts with Method Man, Redman, and 50 Cent. "Figuring out my sounds was a lot of trial and error," Lipa tells Teen Vogue, "I'd go into the studio and say, I want it to be, like, Nelly Furtado mixed with J. Cole.' People would be like, 'What is she talking about?'"
