His very athletic family include cousins former NFL linebacker Aaron Maybin, current Detroit Lions linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin, NBA guard Rashad McCants, WNBA guard/forward Rashanda McCants and a third cousin of Canadian Football League running back John Avery.
