After the world learned on April 12, that the Eddie Murphy's older brother, comedian Charlie Murphy, passed away while battling leukemia, the Murphy family released a statement regarding his death and thanked fans for their condolences.
"Our hearts are heavy with the loss today of our son, brother, father, uncle and friend Charlie," the statement to ABC News read. "Charlie filled our family with love and laughter and there won’t be a day that goes by that his presence will not be missed. Thank you for the outpouring of condolences and prayers. We respectfully ask for privacy during this time of great loss for all of us.”

Charlie's rep confirmed that he was receiving chemotherapy and died at a New York City hospital on Wednesday morning.
The comedian co-wrote and starred in several movies during his career but he will likely best be remembered for his hilarious part in Dave Chappelle's sketch show where he would recall stories about Rick James and Prince.
Charlie leaves behind three children, two of which he shared with Tisha Taylor Murphy who passed away from cancer in 2009.
Many celebrities took to social media upon hearing of the news of Charlie's death and the condolences have continued to pour in.
