1. Becoming Part II (Season 2, Episodes 22)
Arguably the most heart-wrenching episode of the entire series, Becoming Part II is the final showdown between Buffy and Angelus. Angelus wants to open a portal that will suck the world into hell, but Buffy is there to stop him. As they fight, Willow manages to complete the spell that will restore Angel’s soul. Buffy realizes this, but, unfortunately, it is too late. The portal is open and the only thing that can close it is Angel’s death. So, Buffy softly touches Angel’s cheek, tells him to close his eyes and she kisses him one final time. She tells him that she loves him before she stabs her sword into his heart. It is the episode that taught Buffy fans to never let your guard down for heartbreak. You will be crying for days after watching it.
