1. With a first glance, The Giving Tree is a wonderful book about generosity. However, as the story is read over and over again, children will learn more valuable life lessons than that which is on the surface.
2. Don’t keep score. The Giving Tree is constantly giving, never keeping track of how much she has given away without anything in return.
3. Focus more on what you need than what you want.
4. Be there for those in need.
5. Love unconditionally.
6. Always say please and thank you. The boy never says please or thank you in the story and it becomes the root of his unhappiness.
