1. LeFou and Gaston
Josh Gad’s performance as the openly gay Lefou is absolutely brilliant. You are not sure if Lefou wants to be Gaston, if he is in love with Gaston, or if the answer is both. It is also satisfying to see his character grow. In the beginning he is just a sidekick with a crush, but in the end he realizes that he is much better than the bad boy he was into and he becomes an independent good guy.

On the other end of the scale, Luke Evans was made to play Gaston. While the Gaston in the animated feature is a comedic villain, Evan’s portrayal of the bad guy is much more real as well as evil. The narcissistic villain begins as an entitled jerk and grows into a heinous murderer who meets his rightful end. Evans plays Gaston with a certain swagger that simply fits the character.
