She's baaack! In the first look at the highly anticipated The Vampire Diaries series finale, Elena Gilbert is back in Mystic Falls.
In the 10-second tease, fans can see Nina Dobrev back in her role as Miss Gilbert as she appears in the reflection of a trophy case at her old high school. While the clip is far too short, Elena can be heard saying, "What happened? Why am I here right now?"
Fans will remember that Dobrev left in dramatic fashion at the end of season six, when her life was linked to her best friend, Bonnie's (Kat Graham). As her friends bid her farewell, it was revealed that as long as Bonnie lives, Elena stays asleep. However, after almost two full seasons without the show's biggest character, Elena will return to finish what she started.
On Jan. 26, we reported that Dobrev announced her return via Instagram when she posted a photo of a TVD script writing, "I know it's Thursday, but this is not a TBT. #BackOnSet #TVDForever"
While Dobrev is surely the biggest name to be returning for the culmination of the show's eight year run, she's not the only one. Other returners include Jeremy Gilbert (Steven R. McQueen), Uncle John (David Anders) and Kai (Chris Wood), just to name a few.
The Vampire Diaries series finale airs Friday, March 10, on The CW.
