Oprah Winfrey to become special contributor on '60 Minutes'

Oprah Winfrey is set to become a special contributor on 60 Minutes, marking her first appearance on the No. 1 broadcast news show in the fall.

The Oprah news comes after 60 Minutes lost some of its talent over the past two years, with the deaths of Bob Simon in 2015 and Morley Safer last May.

The news was confirmed Tuesday by news magazine's executive producer, Jeff Fager, who raved about the legendary TV personality and expressed his excitement for her to join the 60 Minutes team.

"There is only one Oprah Winfrey.  She is a remarkable and talented woman with a level of integrity that sets her apart and makes her a perfect fit for 60 Minutes. I am thrilled that she will be bringing her unique and powerful voice to our broadcast."

Oprah Winfrey, herself, also shared her eagerness to join the famous show.

"I've been a big admirer of 60 Minutes since my days as a young reporter.  I'm so excited and proud to join forces with this historic news program, which for me represents the bastion of journalistic storytelling."

Winfrey is obviously no stranger to the spotlight, especially in the world of broadcast journalism.  Her award-winning talk show The Oprah Winfrey Show ran for 25 years and she has her own network, aptly titled OWN.

We cannot wait for Winfrey to be on our screens again giving us the news!
