Amid the controversy of President Trump's immigration ban, Kal Penn started raising funds and was called out on Twitter by an 0nline troll, but he had a great response to the hate.
Entertainment Weekly noted that the Indian-American actor received a hateful tweet on Saturday, Jan. 28th that read, "you don't belong in this country you f**king joke."
To the dude who said I don't belong in America, I started a fundraising page for Syrian Refugees in your name. https://t.co/NOR5P48fBi pic.twitter.com/jtJOsK9GrU

The Designated Survivor star took a screenshot of this tweet and responded with "To the dude who said I don’t belong in America, I started a fundraising page for Syrian Refugees in your name.”
The donation page can be found at CrowdRise where as of Monday morning, donations have exceeded $500,000 for Syrian refugees. With a screenshot of the original hateful Twitter post on the front banner for all to see.
Penn, who has been infamously in disagreements with Trump, called the president's actions “mean-spirited” and “un-American” in a Twitter post after the immigration ban was first signed.
Our president just did the very mean-spirited, un-American thing of not welcoming refugees to our incredible country for at least 120 days

Donations raise will go towards the International Rescue Committee.
