Jenny McCarthy is speaking out in defense of Dick Clark Productions after Mariah Carey's (let's be honest) trainwreck of a performance on New Year's Eve.
According to Fox News, in a recent episode of her SiriusXM radio show "The Jenny McCarthy Show," the 44-year-old walked listeners through what she and many of the higher-ups in charge of Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest thought as Mariah Carey performed.
"Mouths were hanging open, everyone was shocked. We only gave you a shortened version of that. We had to go through another song of her walking around," McCarthy explained. "And like my husband Donnie [Wahlberg] said, being in this business, I know what it's like to have your prompter go out. I know what it's like to have my inner ears go out. It's scary, I know what it's like when your brain malfunctions and you're on live TV. So I was like, you know what, I have sympathy for her."
But McCarthy's sympathy waned after Carey began accusing Dick Clark Productions of sabotaging her performance for ratings.
"If Dick Clark were alive today, I guarantee he would be on air right now fighting back. He's not, so I'm going to," McCarthy said.
She went on to say that Carey chose not to do a proper soundcheck. Instead, the singer did a walk-through of her choreography and had a stand-in do the soundcheck. McCarthy also guessed that Carey was simply nervous about performing.
"I mean her voice is not there anymore. I don't believe there was a problem with her inner ears. I just don't. I think she used it as an excuse. The monitors on the stage are there, by the way, to blast out the songs to the musician in case this happens."
As we reported earlier, Mariah Carey has spoken out saying she was mortified by her performance. However, she insists that not working with her own team and the show runners of New Year's Rockin' Eve are to blame for the debacle.
