Grammy Awards Lifetime Achievement Award honorees announced, James Corden hosts

We are just a month away from the 59th Annual Grammy Awards and this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award honorees have been announced.

In a press release, it was announced that this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award honorees would include Nina Simone, Ahmad Jamal, Jimmie Rodgers, Shirley Caesar, Charley Pride, the Velvet Underground and Sly Stone.

Additionally, Mo Ostin, Ralph Peer and Thom Bell will receive the Trustees Award while the Technical Grammy Award will go to Alan Dower Blumlein.

President and CEO of the Recording Academy stated the “recipients comprise a prestigious group of diverse and influential creators who have crafted or contributed to some of the most distinctive recordings in music history.”

There will also be a hardcover book published by the Recording Academy and Hal Leonard Books. A GRAMMY Salute To Music Legends is filled with written tributes over two decades from well known artists including Eric Clapton, Ice Cube, Brian May of Queen and more.

The tributes have not been widely published and had previously been commissioned for the Grammy Awards program book.

The book is slated to become available in early January.

You can watch the Grammy Awards on Feb. 12. James Corden will be hosting the ceremony.
