It has been confirmed that Jackie Evancho will be performing at Donald Trump's inauguration later this month and following that announcement, one publication claimed that the teen's album sales have soared. And today, the president-elect took credit for what was said to be a surge.
Trump posted to his favorite social media account on Wednesday to tell his followers that the reason the former America's Got Talent contestant's sales are up is because she is the scheduled perform at his inauguration on Jan. 20.
"Jackie Evancho's album sales have skyrocketed after announcing her Inauguration performance," he tweeted.

While some may view this as classic Trump being Trump and putting out a tweet to grab the public's attention or just patting himself on the back, others are questioning if it's true at all. That's why Billboard decided to do the fact-checking and broke it all down.
The publication noted that since Dec. 14, when it was announced that Evancho would be singing at the ceremony, her studio album titled Someday at Christmas, which was released on Oct. 28, sold 6,000 copies in the week ending Dec. 15. The album sold 11,000 copies in the week ending Dec. 22, but the following week sank to 8,000. Billboard pointed out that the gains may have been attributed to it being holiday time since that is when most holiday album sales get a boost. The publication used Pentatonix’s A Pentatonix Christmas as an example. Those sales went from 139,000 copies sold in the week ending Dec. 15 to 185,000 sold in the week ending Dec. 22. But many would think that such an announcement about a national performance would boost sales for a former reality competition show contestant. Right?
Well, Evancho recently sang on AGT's Holiday Special which aired on NBC so that appearance certainly didn't hurt her sales. Someday at Christmas did make it to No. 93 after the inauguration announcement, but dropped to No. 134 the next chart week. Her five other studio albums are top 40-charting albums on the Billboard 200 and three of them hit the top 10. However, none of her other albums have returned to the Billboard 200 chart since her inauguration performance was announced.
