6. My Best Friend's Wedding
Also premiered on June 20th 1997 but received much better reviews than the previous film. Directed by P.J. Hogan this rom-com went on to be a cult classic and was nominated for and won too many awards to list here but among those were the ALMA awards for Outstanding Performance in a Cross-over Role in a Feature Film, and Blockbuster Entertainment Awards under several categories. The film stars award-winning Julia Roberts whose character Julianna Potter tries to sabotage her best friend's wedding so she can have him all to herself.
