Raved for its masterful cinematography, Titanic, directed by James Cameron, made its debut Dec 19, 1997 and received 11 of the 14 Academy Awards it was nominated for including Best Picture, Original Score and Best Director. Based on the real-life vessel that inevitably sank killing many people in 1912, Titanic fictionalizes a romance between an aristocratic woman named Rose Calvert (Kate Winslet), and a poor artist named Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio) who shows her kindness and adventure, contrary to her high class upbringing before the ship they are on meets it unfortunate demise.
