In some ways, 2016 will be remembered as a year of divides. Various events, political upsets and moments of social unrest have created rifts in communities and countries on the whole. However, as they often do, many musical moments have represented solidarity and unity throughout the year.
Collaborations across "boxes" have demonstrated that music is still home to statement pieces – from the sweet to the subversive. The range of successful joint efforts we witnessed in 2016 stand as a testament to this.
As we move into 2017, lets take time to remember some of the collaborations that made 2016 a great year in music. Of course Beyoncé makes her mark on this year’s list – along with a range of artists from Kenny Chesney to Kendrick Lamar.
