John Legend to perform at NBA All-Star game

Grammy-Award winning singer John Legend will perform during halftime at the 66th NBA All-Star Game in New Orleans, the league announced on Monday.

Legend’s latest album, his fifth, Darkness and Light was released earlier this month. He will perform some of his newest hits along with some classic hits. This won’t be the first time that Legend has performed at the NBA All-Star game. In 2009, he was the halftime performer and in 2013 he performed the national anthem, the Associated Press notes.

This year’s All-Star game will be played in New Orleans even though it was scheduled to take place in Charlotte, North Carolina. The NBA moved the game from Charlotte to New Orleans due to North Carolina’s HB2 law which requires transgender people to use bathrooms that correspond to their birth gender in public bathrooms.

Sting performed at the All-Star game last year and past halftime performers included Ariana Grande and Alicia Keys, according to People.

The NBA All-Star Game will air Feb. 19 on TNT.
