Merle Haggard
April 6, 1937-April 6, 2016
Merle Haggard was a walking Cinderella story. Born and raised in depression-era California, his family lived in a converted boxcar. Haggard was plagued by health issues as a youngster and eventually turned into a rebellious teen with an extensive rap sheet. However, he was able to turn his life around. Haggard released north of 200 original songs and managed 38 No. 1 hits. This country music legend is definitely one of music’s great losses this year.
