Twitter reacts to Yoenis Cespedes re-signing with New York Mets

Free-agent outfielder Yoenis Cespedes re-signed with the New York Mets on Tuesday, Nov. 29.

According to Fox Sports, which first reported the news, the deal is for four years and $110 million. Cespedes gets a full no-trade clause and the deal is pending a physical. It is the largest free-agent deal in Mets history. Next year, Cespedes will make $22.5 million, in 2018 and 2019 he’ll make $29 million and in 2020 he’ll make $29.5 million.

The average annual value of the deal is $27.5 million, which is the most for an outfielder and is tied with Alex Rodriguez’s deal with the New York Yankees for the seventh-highest in MLB history. It’s the second-highest AAV for any player behind Miguel Cabrera of the Detroit Tigers.

Cespedes recently opted out of the three-year contract he signed with the Mets last off-season. He hit .280 with 31 home runs and 86 RBI’s this year, according to ESPN. He also made the All-Star team for the second time in his career.

Cespedes’ teammates and fans reacted via Twitter to the resigning.
