Stay Safe

We all think of holidays like St. Patrick's Day and the 4th of July as big drinking days, but in fact, Thanksgiving Eve tops the charts. Maybe because it's the lead-off into seeing way too much family, maybe because it's one of the hardest prep days for cooking. In addition, Thanksgiving sees the highest level of drunk driving fatalities in the U.S.

If you are unsure of whether you should drive or not, simply don't. Grab a sober friend, call for a free ride or ask to crash on the couch.  Mother's Against Drunk Driving has a great list of how to keep your guests safe and (more) sober, including checking that each group has a driver and offering fun non-alcoholic drinks to everyone can have some fun.The Calibration Problem

Still worried about drunk driving? We are too. The Alcomate Revo hosts a chance to stop an accident before it can happen. Make it a game - collect keys and require a breathalyzer test before handing them over. It may shock your friends and family into finding a safe way home. And always be alert when you're on the road, it takes one person to ruin the lives of many.

AlcoMate Revo and AlcoMate Premium are used by the U.S. Navy the U.S. Marine Corps for screening for their own personnel. The Alcomate products are also DOT approved for superior accuracy beyone that of smartphone breathalyzers.

Here are some quick tips to ensure you get accurate readings with the breathalyzer:

  • Wait at least 20 minutes after eating, drinking or smoking before performing a breath alcohol test.
  • Common household products like mouthwash or breath spray often contain alcohol that may cause a high reading on a breathalyzer.
  • If you have owned your device for at least 6 months and/or have performed up to 200 tests on the device, it may be in need of sensor replacement.

Note: The BAC legal limit for all states in the US for DUI/DWI is currently set at 0.08%.
