'Jane The Virgin' recap- 'Chapter Forty-Eight'

Jane The Virgin, with the last two words struck out in the title, aired Nov. 7 and dealt with Michael and Jane moving to their new house. In addition, Xiomara and Alba got used to the idea of not having Jane at home for good.

In the meantime, Xo began looking for jobs to see if she could find anything she would enjoy. At their new place, Jane and Michael prepared for a housewarming party and discussed repainting the wall.

Rogelio then came over to talk about Amanda Elaine, who was part of Jane’s writing group. He once had a relationship with her and he wants to discuss playing the lead role in the movie adaptation of her book.

At the hotel, Scott and Anezka are making changes to the hotel and preparing for a flamingo party. The staff is unhappy about what is going on and Lina asks Jane to talk to Rafael. She declines since he just lost his mom so she’ll try to talk to Petra.

Jane goes to talk to Petra, but the conversation is very strange since Jane brings up the fight “they” had before the wedding. However, Anezka doesn’t know anything about that fight and brushes Jane off.

Michael’s co-worker, Dennis Chambers, talks to Rafael about how his mom died. She had been poisoned. He doesn’t want to talk about it and says he’s fine, but Luisa doesn’t believe him.

Jane and Michael are home when a realtor walks in with a couple. They discover that they are being evicted due to half their rent not being paid. While trying to figure things out, they find out someone has been secretly paying half their rent. After calling both Rafael and Rogelio, who both say no, they are no closer to discovering the actual person who got them the house.

Rogelio speaks with Amanda at the Marbella about the movie, but she is more interested in Rafael. She requests a date with him to get Rogelio the part. Rogelio talks to Rafael, who does not like the idea of being pimped out. He says no.

Jane sees Alba at the gift shop, who has been secretly coming to visit her granddaughter since she misses her. Later at home, Alba discovers Xo got a job as a bank teller. Even though she knows Xo will hate the job, she tries to be supportive.

Jane is at work with Lina, who is trying to begin a staff walk out. However, Jane is distracted when she sees the realtor she has been trying to get a hold of. She confronts him and discovers Petra had gotten the house for them.

Up in Petra’s office, Jane thanks her for the rental, which Anezka does not know about. Jane invites Petra and Scott to dinner. Later, Anezka goes to see Petra when she sees an imposing figure at her bedside. The woman is a cellmate of Magda’s and has a message that she has 72 hours to sell her shares of the Marbella.

Xo has her first day as a teller, but things don’t go as well as she hoped. When she goes home, her mother has dinner prepared to celebrate her first day.

Rafael is surprised Petra wants to sell her shares of the hotel but reminds her she needs both his and Luisa’s permission to do so. He reluctantly agrees to see what he can do. He later talks to Jane, who gives him a gift from her father, which is essentially a bribe.

Michael and Jane discuss their expenses and how to cut things out of their budget in order to pay the rent. Eventually, they figure out how to cut corners but are still short. They end up deciding to go ahead and ask Rogelio for help with the rest.

They have an awkward dinner date with “Petra” and Scott. When Scott tries to bribe Jane with money to not do the walk out, she declines and later asks “Petra” if she is in a Milos situation. Anezka knows about Milos and is annoyed that Jane thinks she is being blackmailed. Scott and “Petra” leave.

Jane later talks to Rafael, who is okay with them doing the walkout since he thinks the whole thing is ridiculous. After the call, Luisa comes to him and says she needs help since she has an urge to drink after once again talking to the police. He agrees to take care of her.

Xo comes to the hotel to talk to Jane and tells her she quit her job. She is trying to avoid telling Alba, but her mom sees her from the gift shop. When Alba offers to take her to work, she finds out Xo is no longer working there.

Jane goes home to Michael, who had figured out more ways to cut down costs when he discovered Jane lied about having an expense for Mateo, which is covered by Rafael. They both have their first fight about money and Jane leaves for work.

While preparing for the flamingo party, Scott lets it slip that Lina look the money so they cancelled the walkout. Jane is upset that she would do this.

As Rafael goes to the party, Rogelio keeps an eye on Luisa, who tells him not to use the word babysitter since it’s a trigger.

Xo and Alba discuss the fact that Xo kept the job loss a secret. Xo didn’t want to disappoint her, plus Alba was being supportive. Alba just didn’t want to fall into their old ways of fighting since Jane made them better.

Rogelio helps Luisa with exercises to cope with being an alcoholic. She admits to him she feels like a failure as a sister because Rafael has always been there for her but she doesn’t know how to do the same for him. Later after she falls asleep, Rogelio tells Rafael they discussed her going to rehab. Rafael also admits that the movie is not happening since he couldn’t go through with the date. Rogelio understands and realizes Rafael is more important.

Jane tries to fix things with Petra but as “Petra” is distracted by the former cellmate, she ends up pushing Jane into the water. Jane pulls her in and they end up fighting. Both Scott and Lina jump in to get them away from each other.

Lina and Jane work things out, with Lina reminding Jane that not everyone has a rich father and baby daddy to fall back on. Jane also gets what Michael was trying to get at. At home, they agree they don’t want to have to cut corners and even though they love the house, they’ll find a smaller place.

Their housewarming party ends up becoming a goodbye party and everyone has a good time. Alba surprises them with the news she got a job at the Marbella gift shop and has a gift for their next new home.

Rogelio talks to Michael about the part and Rafael, but Michael is distracted by Dennis. He goes to talk to him and finds out Rafael’s mother had underlined four passages. “Angels Guard The Sun.” They didn’t know what it meant, but it could be about Rafael.

At his office, Rafael is shocked when Petra wants his shares as well and she blackmails him to get her way. Stunned, he watches her leave. As Anezka walks away, she lets out a noise of surprise seeing Jane and Mateo. Jane suddenly has flashbacks of the moments she had with “Petra” and meeting Anezka, who had yelped in surprise then. Jane pulls Mateo’s stroller away from Anezka and rushes into Rafael’s office. With a surprised gaze, she tells him she’s pretty sure the woman is not Petra. Finally, someone has noticed!
