Athletes react to Donald Trump being elected president

America voted for its next president on Tuesday and Donald Trump won the election.

Trump, the Republican nominee, defeated Democrat Hillary Clinton by getting 279 electoral votes to be elected the 45th president of the United States. Former Indiana basketball coach Bobby Knight, golfer Jack Nicklaus, former Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling and former New York Yankees outfielder Paul O’Neil were among the sports figures who endorsed Trump, according to Sports Illustrated. Clinton was backed by Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James, former NBA player Jason Collins, former women’s soccer star Abby Wambach, Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh and others.

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick wrote a letter to Trump and said on Wednesday that the letter was a correspondence between two friends and wasn’t political. After talking  to the media about that letter Belichick answered all questions about Trump with “Seattle” indicating that he’s only focused on the Patriots game against the Seattle Seahawks this coming weekend.

Here’s how the rest of the sports world reacted to Trump becoming president of the United States.
