1. The Haunting (1963) – The entire thing.
The Haunting came out in 1963, with direction by Robert Wise and composition by Humphrey Searle. From start to finish, this score was masterfully crafted. In an age when CGI did not exist and suspense was prized over gore, music was especially important in creating a cinematic adventure. Searle demonstrated immense skill throughout The Haunting, helping it to become one of the best scary movies of all time.
