Man who carried out attack at Miranda Kerr’s home charged with attempted murder

An Australian man who allegedly broke into Miranda Kerr's Malibu home and viciously attacked her security guard has been charged with attempted murder.

People confirmed that Los Angeles County prosecutors have charged Shaun Anthony Haywood, 29, with attempted murder as well aggravated mayhem and assault with a deadly weapon.

Hayward, who is a native of Brisbane, is accused of breaking into the supermodel's home on Oct. 14. Authorities say that when he was confronted by a member of Kerr's security detail he attacked him with a knife and slashed his face. During the altercation the guard was able to get to his weapon and shot Hayward in the face and torso.

If convicted the suspect faces a life sentence.

Kerr, 33, was not in the home when the alleged incident occurred.
