Lin-Manuel Miranda made his Saturday Night Live debut as host on Oct. 8 and he did it in full musical style.
For his opening number, the Hamilton star sang about his shot at hosting while walking through the halls of the SNL studio. As he walked past previous guests of the show, he came to Donald Trump’s photo and had to stop himself as he nearly called the man a “piece of sh*t.”
After taking a moment to compose himself, the Broadway star continued to sing his opener, stopping at one point to talk to Lorne Michaels, who was hoping for tickets to Hamilton.
He began by talking about how thrilled he was to host and how he wanted to do all he could on the show since he did not know when he would get a chance to be back. Then he began singing his epic monologue.
