We thought Disney stars Dove Cameron and Ryan McCartan had found true love in each other, but it just wasn't meant to be.
The actors shocked fans when they announced via Twitter that they called off their engagement and ended their relationship.
McCartan was first to tweet about their breakup on Wednesday, Oct. 5, writing, "Dove has decided this relationship isn't what she wants. We still love each other very much. Please be sensitive, as this is painful."
In a follow-up tweet he thanked his fans for supporting him.

On Thursday, Cameron broke her silence about the split on social media. She also thanked her fans before stating that "There's a lot love between Ryan & I. Life is beautiful & long."

As we reported the Liv and Maddie co-stars, who have been dating since 2013, announced their engagement in April.
